MBDA is committed to offering flexible ways of working that support both the needs of our business, as well as the aspirations of our current and future employees. Employees up to and including level 4 are able to take advantage of the flexi-time system. This allows employees to vary their daily starting and finishing times, provided the number of contracted hours are worked. Employees can also accrue time and take up to 15 days of flexi-leave per annum in addition to the paid 25 day annual leave entitlement.

Employees receive 25 days of paid annual leave per calendar year, in addition to all statutory and public holidays. This increases to 26 days after 10 years of service and 27 days after 30 years of service with the Company.
- Enhanced Maternity Pay
Eligible employees are entitled to Company Maternity Pay for the first 18 weeks, paid at 100% of their average earnings, and a further 21 weeks at the standard rate of Statutory Maternity Pay (39 weeks total).
In addition to the core benefits, MBDA offers employees the flexibility to select from a range of additional optional benefits throughout the year.

- Pension Scheme
MBDA offers a highly competitive pension plan to ensure employees are prepared for the future. Employees are eligible to join a defined contribution scheme provided by our UK Shareholder BAE Systems PLC.
- Share Incentive Plan
The MBDA UK Share Incentive Plan (SIP) reinforces the Company’s commitment to long-term share ownership amongst our employees, and provides an opportunity to acquire shares in our UK Shareholder, BAE Systems PLC. Shares purchased in this way have significant tax and National Insurance advantages.
- Access to Financial Advice
Employees can take advantage of a range free seminars held throughout the year to help employees make financial decisions.
- Programme Assisted Self Study (PASS Scheme)
MBDA supports the ongoing commitment of employees for self-development and to encourage a culture of active learning. The money can be used for a variety of courses, including language and driving lessons and PADI scuba diving qualifications.
- Season Ticket Loans
MBDA recognises that season tickets are often the best way to making savings on daily travel. The Company offers season ticket loans to allow employees to spread the cost of a season ticket for trains or buses across a 12 month period. This makes the cost of travel more affordable and provides employees more control over their outgoings.
Health and Wellbeing
- Dental and Medical Care
Employees are eligible to join MBDA’s discounted private medical and dental schemes offered by Bupa and DenPlan (Dental Insurance). The schemes are open to employees and their family members. Employees are also eligible to join BAWA, which offers two levels of membership. Full membership entitles employees to claim cash back on everyday healthcare expenses including dental work, spectacles, medical fees and treatment as well as access to BAWA facilities. Sports membership entitles employees access to BAWA facilities as well as cash back on sports benefits, such as chiropractic, physiotherapy and sports massage.
- Health Screening
Employees can purchase health screening to detect the early signs of illness before they would normally be picked up. Tax and National Insurance savings are available on this benefit.
- Employee Assistance Programme
MBDA provides a free Employee Assistance Programme for all employees. Employees have access to free and confidential personal and professional advice 24/7 from qualified advisors or online regarding legal, medical, financial and personal issues.
- Childcare Support
MBDA operates a childcare voucher scheme that can reduce the cost of childcare. The voucher scheme allows participating employers to take advantage of Government/HMRC regulations that enable employees to sacrifice a portion of their salary for childcare vouchers equal to the salary sacrificed. Employees make tax and National Insurance savings through the salary sacrifice arrangement and can use the vouchers at all Ofsted regulated childcare providers.
- Sporting Facilities and Associations
All MBDA sites have access to a sports and social club, which offer a number of sporting and leisure activities at discounted rates throughout the year.
