Technical & Professional Training
To enable
employees to enhance their technical & professional knowledge throughout
their career, MBDA provides a number of development opportunities which
include: further education, in-house colleges and external training courses.
Programme of Assisted Self Study (PASS)
'Interested in developing a skill in a subject that isn't necessarily work-related? MBDA is happy to provide all full-time employees with up to £100 of financial
support each year, which you can put towards training course fees,
exam fees or recommended study materials.
You can put the money towards programmes which are skill or knowledge-based, undertaken in your own time and taught at a recognised learning centre. Such a centre might include a university, college of further or higher education, adult education centre or approved distance learning centre, although accredited internet courses are also considered. Some people decide to pool their money with other employees for approved group learning that meets the PASS criteria. Examples would be French and Italian language training.
Knowledge Points
MBDA boasts three Knowledge Points -
one at each of our key locations. Designed to provide in-house,
business-focused learning, Knowledge Points provide flexible learning via
multimedia courses, CD-ROMs, videos, audio and textbooks.
Language Training
MBDA is a truly international
business and competence in a second language is therefore becoming
more and more important for many of our employees. As a result,
we have developed on-site Language Resource Centres or Espace Langues
at our Stevenage and Filton sites, with their own dedicated tutors. Visiting
tutors provide language coaching at our Lostock and London sites.
The Espace Langues provide guided self-learning with coaching sessions and group workshops, as well as facilities that include individual workstations, course work loans, a comprehensive library and organised events.
Our Language Training Programme is now in its fourth year and is currently used by some 250 MBDA employees studying French and an increasing number studying Italian.
