The opportunity

Electronic Engineering has many exciting projects that have challenging technology and timescales to achieve. This has created opportunities for additional Electronic Engineering Sector Leads whose role is to act as delivery lead for all aspects of Electronic Engineering deliverables to the internal customer projects within the sector.

The Role

The Electronic Engineering Sector Lead will manage deliverables to the internal customer projects within the sector through the relevant Engineering Project Managers, reporting directly to the Sector Lead. The Sector Lead is accountable for:

  • The Delivery performance across all EE products being developed within the sector and identification of delivery improvement areas

  • The Product/Equipment functionality and performance across all EE products being developed for a given sector

  • The Effective monitoring of EE Product/ Equipment development budgets for projects within the sector and assisting in managing and constraining the budget

  • The Development of new business within the sector

  • The Coordination and production of bid submissions for EE Product/Equipment developments within the sector

  • The Work load forecast predictions and resource level management/assistance

  • The Management of people who are direct reports

What we are looking for?

To be successful in this role, candidates will need to demonstrate a broad range of capabilities such as:

  • The ability to manage across multiple and complex projects through direct Project Manager first reports

  • Be able to demonstrate (internal to MBDA/EE) customer facing behaviour

  • The role involves the coordination and tracking of multiple projects and, as such, a recognised project management qualification will be an advantage.

  • An excellent understanding of engineering disciplines and the product development lifecycle preferably in a defence environment

  • Be comfortable with People management of direct reports

  • Broad Commercial and contracting awareness.

  • Have excellent decision making skills in ambiguous and demanding environments

  • Be an Effective communicator and influencer at all levels

  • Have experience of working across international borders especially France and Italy

The candidate is likely to have a broad engineering background, with a bias towards Electronics Design via a recognised formal qualification. Chartered Engineers would also be welcomed for their broad and proven competency levels.
