Missile Architects in MBDA are deployed across all of the project teams. They draw upon a range of inputs from around the company to drive a coherent top-level design for our missiles. Typically the team consists of electrical, test, safety and reliability, and mechanical engineers.
What's the opportunity?
Missile Architecture works with a wide range of technical functions and provides direct input towards project programme delivery across the business. Within your placement you’ll be working on allocated projects, which could be at any stage of its lifecycle - you’ll get to experience working with numerous people and departments within MBDA to achieve successful technical delivery of your project.
During your placement you’ll get the opportunity to learn how to undertake and manage design and performance trade-off studies. You’ll get involved in working on the design and delivery of subsystems into the project (E.g. Data links, Actuation systems, Telemetry Units. Etc) along with the possibility to assist with trials and testing of components and missiles during the development phase.

What are we looking for?
- Students currently studying towards a degree in a technical or Engineering-related discipline, such as Electronics, Physics, Maths or Mechanical Engineering
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- Willingness to work with ambiguity
- Determination to succeed

All graduates, undergraduates and apprentices at MBDA are required to achieve the appropriate clearance relevant to their respective role. Some roles, may be reserved for UK nationals and certain categories of information may be restricted to UK nationals also. To gain suitable clearance individuals will need to have lived in UK for up to 5 years dependent on the level of clearance required.
