Your Assessment Centre
We're really looking forward to learning more about you.
Firstly - congratulations on getting a place on our virtual assessment centre. We've seen some great applications for all our roles.
Let us tell you everything that you need to about how we'll assess you, what you'll be doing and some tips to help you with the day.
We hold our assessment centres between 9am and 12pm on our bespoke virtual platform, which means you'll get to talk with our assessors without having to come in to our offices. You'll get to meet a range of people that work at MBDA, including current Early Careers Programme members. So you'll get the same great experience of coming onsite, just from the comfort of wherever you decide to join us from!
How do I access my assessment centre?

On your assessment centre you will need a laptop with a functional webcam/video recording capability.
We understand that on the day you may experience some technical issues. Our early careers team will be available throughout the day to help you fix any problems you may have and are prepared with a number of back-up options to help you with any issues faced.
Most technical issues can be solved by using a compatible browser from the start of the event; we recommend Chrome, but Firefox and Edge also work. You can use Safari for Mac.
What will I do on the day and how can I prepare in advance?
Your assessment centre
All assessments are strengths based. All roles require the same strengths assessment - we want to see who you are!
The timetable for the day will be visible when you log into the assessment centre tool. At the start of the day you will meet someone from the early careers recruitment team, they'll run an ice breaker activity to help you feel relaxed when talking virtually. They will also be there to support you throughout the day.
During the assessment centre, you will also have the chance to meet a current early careers member; a graduate, undergraduate or apprentice in a Q&A session and be introduced to members of the department you have applied to.
You will have a strengths based interview with someone from the department you are applying to; prepare by reading the job advert that we sent to you in your invite and remind yourself of why you're interested in MBDA and the role you have applied to. You may also want to prepare examples from your personal/professional life to use in your interview answers. If you are attending a graduate, undergraduate or summer placement assessment centre, you will also be asked technical questions towards the end of your interview. These will be relevant to the role you have applied to; this section of the 55 minutes Strength Based Interview will last up to 20 minutes.
You will also take part in a team task which is a live exercise with other candidates. The team task will be timed and there will be text for you to read in order to complete the task, you will also be required to do a video recording. This will be reviewed by a person so you should talk to the camera as if you are talking to an interviewer. We do not use AI to assess the videos.
There will be breaks during the day so we hope that you can relax and not feel rushed.
When booking on for your assessment centre, make sure to let us know if you require extra time or other reasonable adjustments. You can email ftn.ecp-recruitment@mbda.co.uk if you'd like to discuss this further.
What should you wear?
We do not have a dress code for our assessment centres, but we encourage you to wear your best - we want you to feel comfortable and confident!
Where should you complete your assessment centre?
You should pick a place that is quiet, where you are less likely to be disturbed. You could complete your assessment centre at home, in the library, at school, or at university.
Access to a laptop with a working webcam and stable internet connection is required. If you don’t have access please let us know as soon as possible so we can support you.
Integrity
Don't be tempted to get someone, or something (such as an AI tool) to help you with any of the assessments - it actually won't help you!
Integrity is one of our company values - it is something that everyone at MBDA feels strongly about.
How to contact us
If you have any questions or concerns please email ftn.ecp-recruitment@mbda.co.uk
If you no longer wish to attend please email us at the earliest possible opportunity so that we may invite someone else.
Finally: Don't forget that this is your opportunity to shine - whilst we will have fully assessed your application to get you to the assessment centre stage, most of the assessors on the day will not have seen your application so use this opportunity to showcase everything you can do.
We hope you enjoy your assessment centre with us, we can't wait to meet you!
