Your Assessment Centre

We're really looking forward to learning more about you.

Firstly - let's take a moment to offer you congratulations on securing a place at one of our assessment centres.

This isn't a small feat, you have been shortlisted from 1000's of applications and have worked really hard to get here.

We'd like to walk you through what to expect on the day, how we will assess you, what activities you will be taking part in and some helpful tips to ensure you feel confident and prepared on the day.

Our virtual assessment centres run from  9am to 12pm on our bespoke virtual platform. This means you will have the chance to meet and speak with our assessors without having to travel. You will also get the opportunity to connect with a variety of people from across MBDA, include current members of our Early Careers Programme.

How do I access my assessment centre?

To help you have a successful assessment centre, you will need:

  • A laptop with a working webcam
  • A stable internet connection
  • Your invitation email with a link to log on (use the same log in details when you RSVP’d)
  • Time to log on and check everything works

We understand that on the day you may experience some technical issues. Our team will be available throughout the day to help you fix any problems you may have and are prepared with a number of back-up options to help you with any issues faced.

Most technical issues can be solved by using a compatible browser from the start of the event; we recommend Chrome, but Firefox and Edge also work. You can use Safari for Mac.

However, if you are still having issues then you can do some trouble shooting here: https://cappfinityclientadmin.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/sections/13856922600861-Troubleshooting

What will I do on the day and how can I prepare in advance?

When you log in to the assessment centre platform, you’ll see your full timetable for the day.

1. Welcome Session

At the start, you’ll meet someone from our Early Careers Recruitment team. They’ll run a short ice-breaker to help you feel comfortable in the virtual environment and will be available to support you throughout the day.

2. Meet the Team

This will be two sessions, one session you'll have the chance to join a Q&A with a current Early Careers employee (graduate, undergraduate, or apprentice) and another session you will be introduced to members of the department you’ve applied to who will be assessing you on the day.

3. Strengths-Based Interview with Technical Questions

You will complete a strengths-based interview with someone from your chosen department. If you are attending a graduate, undergraduate or summer placement assessment centre, you will also be asked technical questions towards the end of your interview. These will be relevant to the role you have applied to; this section of the 55 minutes Strength Based Interview will last up to 20 minutes.

4. Team Task

You’ll take part in a live group exercise with other candidates. The task is timed, you will be given written information to work from and you will also record short videos as part of the task.

(Top tip: please speak to the camera as if you’re addressing an interviewer)

Each application is screened by a real person and no AI is used to assess videos.

How to Prepare

Take a deep breath, relax and:

  • Re-read the job advert included in your invitation
  • Check you have applied for the right location
  • Have a glass of water ready
  • Reflect on why you’re interested in MBDA and the specific role
  • Prepare examples from your personal, academic, or professional experience to support your answers
  • Don't worry we know this may seem overwhelming and a lot in one day but regular breaks are scheduled throughout the day so you won’t feel rushed.
  • Check out our websites and social media. Get to know us and our values and what we are passionate about.

Where to Complete Your Assessment

Choose a quiet space where you’re unlikely to be disturbed. Suitable places might include:

  • Your home
  • A library
  • School or university

What to Wear

There is no formal dress code.

We simply encourage you to wear whatever helps you feel confident and comfortable.

Accessibility & Adjustments

If you need reasonable adjustments, please let us know when booking your assessment centre. We must know in advance and not on the day.

You can also email us at ftn.ecp-recruitment@mbda.co.uk to discuss this further.

Integrity

Please complete all assessments independently.

Getting help from someone else or using tools such as AI will not help your application and goes against our company value of Integrity, which we take very seriously.

Contacting Us

If you have any questions or concerns, please email: ftn.ecp-recruitment@mbda.co.uk

If you are no longer able to attend, please let us know as early as possible so another candidate can take your place.

A Final Note

This is your opportunity to shine.

While your application has already been reviewed to get you to this stage, the assessors on the day will not have seen it, so make the most of the chance to show us what you can do.

We hope you enjoy the assessment centre, and we look forward to meeting you!
