Apprentices attend Houses of Parliament reception

Monday 31 July 2023

Our people are our greatest strength. We say that a lot here at MBDA. That’s because we mean it. It’s why we provide a workplace that helps our people learn, grow and develop every day.

It’s why our managers support their people to advance. They encourage a culture where their people are supported to push themselves outside their comfort zone and explore new topics, ideas and experiences.

Recently, two of our apprentices had such an experience. One outside of their day-to-day roles. Paige and Olly, both in their third year of our Business Degree Apprenticeship, did us the honour of representing MBDA at an ADS Apprentice Reception at the Houses of Parliament.

ADS are the UK trade association in aerospace, security, defence and space that work with government, industry forums and partnerships, and international engagements.

The event celebrated the 20,000+ apprentices employed in the UK’s aerospace, defence, and security and space sectors. Paige and Olly were two of around 100 apprentices in attendance representing employers.

At the event, Paige and Olly were introduced to several of the 50 MPs present and networked with other industry members. They also heard speeches from the Government’s Education Secretary and Economic Security Minister, as well as from a British space scientist and science educator.

Following the experience, Olly said, “It was an honour to represent MBDA and its apprenticeship schemes. Ours has given me, and Paige, so many opportunities for growth and development these past three years.”

Paige added, “It was great to have a chance to share our journeys into our apprenticeships and our experiences so far. So many people were genuinely interested in apprenticeship success and future careers.”

Our four-year apprenticeship schemes focus on business, engineering, software and manufacturing. They provide you with a platform to study, work on exciting projects and make a valuable impact with your work, all while earning a salary. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to develop. You’ll work at one of our MBDA sites and study for your qualification via day release at university or college. We also organise bespoke training courses to enhance and improve your skill set.
