Armed Forces Day 2024

At MBDA, Armed Forces Day on 29 June 2024 concludes our Armed Forces Week. As a company that works closely with our Armed Forces, and as an employer of many ex-military personnel, we’re proud to show our support for the people who make up the wider Armed Forces community: from currently serving personnel to Service families, veterans and cadets.

Russell, one of our many ex-services employees and member of our internal Armed Forces Community employee network, and who previously covered what we did for Reserves Day earlier in the week, now he tells us what else took place:

“This year we’ve bookended Armed Forces Week with some excellent guest speakers.  These events give our people a great opportunity to hear first-hand from members of the armed forces.

“It also provides an opportunity to hear how our own capabilities are making a difference on the front line, and inspires our workforce to deliver for those that are serving the Country.

“As always, we start the week officially with our Flag Raising ceremonies at our sites.

“Then, throughout the week we’ve also hosted SSAFA Big Brew Up events across our sites, raising money for the charity with our annual cake sale.

“We also used the week to host our internal Armed Forces Community employee network “catch-up coffee” in person, as normally this is held virtually. The network is one of many at MBDA and gives ex-service personnel and reservists an opportunity to meet and exchange ideas, and to share with the business direct knowledge and experience.”

Supporting our sailors, soldiers and aviators goes beyond Armed Forces Day. That’s why we’ve shown our commitment to supporting our Armed Forces personnel past and present by being a signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant.

We’re also a Gold Award recipient in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.

We currently employ hundreds of service leavers and have an abundance of support available for all employees, including the dedicated 'Armed Forces Community' employee network mentioned earlier.

Whenever you are ready to leave the armed forces, or are just thinking about it, or even if you’ve already left, there could be a role at MBDA for you.

You can hear from current ex-forces employees at MBDA and see them at our upcoming recruitment events.
