Supporting Those Who Serve: MBDA’s Summer Charity Ball 2025

At MBDA, making a positive impact extends beyond the work we do — it includes how we support the communities around us...
One example of this is our annual Early Careers Summer Charity Ball, which brings employees together to raise funds for a cause that matters while developing skills and building connections across teams.
This year’s event took place on 30th May 2025 at The View, Bar and Kitchen in Welwyn Garden City. Organised by a team of employees on our Early Careers Programme (ECP), the evening was a success, welcoming around 100 attendees and raising £2,033 in support of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity.
Planned by Early Careers, supported by everyone
From logistics and communications to fundraising and hosting, our ECP employees led every aspect of the event. For many, it was a chance to take ownership of a meaningful project and develop practical skills outside of their day-to-day roles.
“The best part for me was definitely the team aspect,” said one of the organisers.
“I enjoyed getting to know my colleagues better and seeing all the work come together.”
Making an impact together - for a cause that aligns with our work
Given MBDA’s close relationship with the UK’s armed forces, supporting a charity that helps serving personnel, veterans and their families felt like a natural fit. The event helped raise both funds and awareness, while also strengthening our connections with the wider defence community.
The £2,033 total was made up of ticket sales, raffle and auction proceeds, and generous donations from guests and sponsors. After covering event costs, the remaining funds will be distributed to the chosen charities.
Guests also had the chance to win a range of raffle prizes, including Thorpe Park and Cineworld tickets, Knebworth House passes, a Tassimo coffee machine and more.
“The venue was excellent, and it was clear how much effort went into the evening. I really appreciated being part of it,” one attendee commented.
A culture of giving back to our communities
In addition to the Early Careers-led annual ball, MBDA hosts a larger-scale annual Charity Dinner – again typically raising funds for military charities, but also organisations close to our UK sites. In November 2024, our last event raised an incredible £297,500.
Events like these annual charity balls, are a reminder that MBDA is more than just a place to work. It’s a place where people take initiative, contribute to meaningful causes, and build relationships that last.
