MBDA awarded Platinum membership by The 5% Club

Thursday 9 November 2023

We are very proud to announce that MBDA have been awarded Platinum accredited membership via The 5% Club’s 2023-24 Employer Audit Scheme. This award recognises our commitment to developing our employees through “earn & learn” schemes such as Apprenticeships, Graduate Schemes and Placements.

The Platinum award was introduced this year for members who have achieved Gold Membership in three consecutive years, and now have at least 10% of employees “earning and learning”. MBDA is just 1 of 30 organisations to have achieved the standard in 2023/4, placing us in the top 3% of all The Club’s members.

Andy Baker, HR Manager for Early Careers Recruitment, who led and worked with MBDA colleagues on the audit, commented:

“MBDA are incredibly proud of achieving Platinum membership and this achievement is particularly impressive as we are in the top 3 percent of members achieving this top level and the only “patron” member to achieve Platinum status.

“The award helps demonstrate to young people that we continue to invest in their future. It also explores our future plans and commitments, as well as examining our approaches to quality, social mobility, diversity and inclusion.

“A big thank you to the Early Careers Recruitment & Development teams and of course all those across the business who continue to support our Early Careers Programmes.”

Simon Charlier, Senior Defence & Political Adviser, is the senior sponsor for the audit within MBDA UK. Speaking further about the achievement, he said:

“I am delighted that we have been audited and awarded the highest platinum level; the first company to do so. It is testament of all the hard work and dedication from the early careers recruiting and development team and management of young joiners into MBDA.

“This award puts us at the top of the 5% club measured against the other 180 members of The 5% Club who participated in this year’s Employer Audit across a wide array of businesses, not just in the defence sector. I have no doubt this award will add to our reputation and other awards as an employer and demonstrates MBDA’s commitment to provide a route into employment and early development for our younger employees.”

Careers that Matter
