MBDA named as one of the 100 Great British Employers of Veterans

Monday 10 July 2023

We are delighted to share that we have been named in the 100 GREAT British Employers of Veterans, a showcase of the UK's leading Forces Friendly employers and what they offer to military veterans.

As a defence company, we are proud to produce leading military products and services for every branch of the UK Armed Forces. We know it helps to have people who have lived experience and understand how our products are used. Their military experience also helps us build rapport and trust with our customers, creating unique and highly valued commercial partnerships.

That's why we work hard to make the transition from the military to a new career at MBDA an attractive one. People, policies and processes have all been considered when making adjustments to recruit and retain veterans, from initial recruitment and attraction methods to long service awards.  We are also a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant and hold a Gold Award for the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS).

We believe it's helped to attract the high number of veterans who work with us and they, along with our reservists, are a very active community within our business. We offer second careers to be passionate about, enabling veterans to build on the personal and professional skills they bring from their service.

Barry, one of our Defence and Political Advisors says, “MBDA lives the very same values as the army I left. Indeed it nourishes them and enables personal progress. There’s no awkward gap between the two lifestyles; far from it. Joining MBDA bridged the gap”

“Our Armed Forces are widely regarded as some of the best in the world.  Leaving service life behind can be difficult, but veterans using their training and experience to be part of MBDA, will help those still in the services protect ours and our allies futures.” adds Russell, RAF veteran and now one of our Digital & Multimedia Officers.

Steve Dignum, one of our Recruitment Advisors involved in veteran recruitment, reacted to the news saying: “It’s pleasing to be recognised as one the 100 GREAT British Employers of Veterans. Our people consistently tell us that they love working at MBDA. This has been reflected recent awards including the Top 10 Best Big Companies to Work For 2022, being the only defence company in the UK to feature in Glassdoor’s top 50 Best Places to Work list, featuring in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2023 and now as a top employer of veterans.”

If you are about to leave the Armed Forces or have already left and are interested in working for MBDA but aren't sure which opportunity is right for you, why not join our Ex-Forces Community here and we will review your CV and help you find a suitable role.
