Story
Meet Beth - Running simulations with world-class equipment

Graduate Engineer Beth keeps some of our biggest simulations running, and the satisfaction she gets is real. Read her story below.

What are you doing in your current engineering placement?

I’ve only recently started in Hardware In The Loop. I’m part of the capability team. We do the behind-the-scenes stuff with the department’s software and firmware – coding things up and making sure all the simulations are running for every project in the department.

What’s the most amazing thing you’ve done so far?

I’d have to say running simulations in our anechoic chamber. We’ve got one of the biggest anechoic chambers in Europe. It’s bigger machinery than I’d get to work with anywhere else, and it feels amazing to be qualified on it so early in my career.

Has anything surprised you about life at MBDA?

I studied aeronautical engineering, so joining the defence industry, I wasn’t sure how easy it would be to find my feet. But I was surprised by how kind and approachable everyone is here. Everyone understood that I was still learning. It was lovely.

How has your career grown in your time here?

It’s still early, but the career and personal development have been really good. You get to move around so much on the grad scheme, which has given me experience in all kinds of different areas. There’s a lot to discover here.

Finally, what’s the best thing about working at MBDA?

The work we do just blows my mind. We do so much cool stuff here, and it changes all the time. The novelty hasn’t worn off yet. I’m not sure it ever will.
