Story
MBDA to Speak and Exhibit at Karren Brady’s Women in Business and Tech Expo 2023

Monday 18 September 2023

For the second year in a row, MBDA are happy to announce we will be attending Karren Brady’s Women in Business & Tech Expo, with one of our own business leaders speaking at the event.

The Event

The Expo, taking place across two days at the Excel in London this October, is a networking opportunity for women in technology, engineering and business, and is attended by scores of businesses and thousands of attendees each year. It is free to register as an attendee.

Last year MBDA featured at the event, including a speaker session from our Head of Design Skill Capabilities (Electronic Engineering), Liz, who talked about unconscious bias in the workplace.

This year, we will once again have a stand for attendees to visit and find out more about life at MBDA directly from employees who work here now.

Our Speaker

For our speaker session at the event, we are proud to announce that our Group Business Development Chief of Staff, Rebecca Warren, will be talking to her audience around the topic of language and communication in relation to promoting gender equity.

Rebecca started her career in finance but quickly grew bored of spreadsheets and ran away to sea. In a twenty year career in the Royal Navy, she qualified as a meteorologist, commanded over 120 personnel on global operations and learnt to identify 80 species of fish.

Working in the Ministry of Defence, she designed and implemented a major transformation programme, worked as the First Sea Lord’s Head of Communications and founded the Royal Navy’s Neurodiversity Network.

Her final role was on loan to the Cabinet Office, working on evacuation operations from Afghanistan and delivering international military support to Ukraine.

Rebecca joined MBDA in 2022 and is now the Group Business Development Chief of Staff, coordinating multinational programme campaigns and the development of new product options.

Rebecca's speaker session will be taking place on Wednesday 18th October at 1:40PM on the topic of:

"From Facts to Fiction: Using language and communications to promote gender equity.

More details about Rebecca’s session can be found here.
