Fantastic opportunity for an experienced Finance Assistant to join a key team within MBDA finance.
Salary: Up to £40,000 depending on experience
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3 days per week on-site due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship
Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:
The Finance Assistant role is a key part of our UK Portfolio team, focused on the provision of high quality financial analysis and information to support Portfolio level reporting and decision making.
We are a unique team in our organisation as we sit across all our key programmes in the UK, helping to provide a consolidated overview of programme financial matters to our UK customer, as well as reporting internally. This role is primarily internal facing, but will also have regular customer interaction, requiring the development of strong relationships with both internal and customer partners.
You will be responsible for producing and maintaining financial information across a range of different areas, including:
- Posting monthly/quarterly trading journals and updating accounting records
- Managing customer invoicing and cash claims, including liaising with customer finance staff as required
- Updating internal cash forecasting
- Consolidation of project financial data and forecasts and preparation of monthly customer reporting files
- Supporting in preparation of budgets and business plans
- Preparation of bi-annual portfolio "cost at completion" reporting
- Supporting in financial analysis related to portfolio and export benefits.
- Bank reconciliations
- Production of project cost certificates
- Maintaining master contract files and core project master data
What we're looking for from you:
- Good communication skills and the ability to form good working relationships are essential to work effectively across multi-functional teams and with our customer
- Attention to detail and focus on 'right first time' data entry
- Knowledge and experience of Finance systems and tools (e.g. SAP) and strong MS Excel skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks and responsibilities, , and also able to work within small project teams
- Demonstrable experience in preparing and manipulating large datasets and spreadsheets.
- Part-qualified accountant (ACA/ACMA/ACCA/AAT) or qualified by experience
- Commercially aware and able to interpret contracts for financial analysis
- Experience of using powerBI or other similar tools to automate or improve financial reporting processes and outputs would be a benefit
- Ability to challenge current process and drive continuous improvement in financial process and technologies
