Our Graduate Programmes start September each year and last two years; after which you will progress to a role within the department you joined.

The starting Salary is £26,500. Pay reviews take place twice per year whilst on the scheme.You will receive a Joining Bonus of £2000 if you have a Bachelor’s Degree or £2500 if you have a Masters.  This is paid in full in your first months’ pay; perfect for helping with the expenses of relocating.

You need to apply from September the previous year to the one you wish to start in.The roles will remain advertised until filled and so we strongly advise you to apply early as many positions will be filled by December.

Training

All Graduates will receive Business, Technical and Personal Development training throughout the two years that set the foundation for your future career.

• Interaction: A 3 day course in Stevenage to meet interact with Apprentices & Graduates from all our UK sites.  Gain an overview of MBDA’s business, its customers and a deeper understanding of the programme.
• Graduate Residential: A five day residential programme designed to develop the awareness and skill in eight subjects including influencing, communication, project management and presenting.
• Foundation in Project Management: Introduces the MBDA Project Management framework and key principles
• Technical Foundation Course: Introduces those on the Engineering schemes to the lifecycle of our products as well as the processes and technologies that enable the company to design and manufacture missile systems.
• Career Development Workshop: Helps graduates to take ownership of their career development and design a career path suited to them.

Electronic Manufacturing Test

The Electronic Manufacturing Test team ensure that the highest quality is delivered at every stage of the manufacturing process by rigorously testing and analysing the electrical components of MBDA’s products. As a graduate on this programme you will work on a variety of projects which include developing new test platforms and processes, providing technical support to the test operations for everything from circuit cards to launch platforms & weapon controllers, and improving the efficiency of the manufacturing process using testing analysis.

Electromagnetic Compatibility Engineering

The Electromagnetic Compatibility team are responsible for managing the unintentional generation, propagation and reception of electromagnetic energy which could cause unwanted effects on equipment. As a graduate on this programme you will be hands-on testing MBDA’s missiles, subsystems and weapon systems.

Environmental Engineering

The Environmental Engineering and Facilities team provide MBDA with the ability to simulate real-world mechanical and climatic environments (vibration, shock, temperature etc.). As a graduate on this programme, you will work in a variety of areas such as project planning, conducting shock and vibration tests in the lab, mechanical stress testing and data gathering trials & analysis.

Facilities Management

The Facilities Management team manage and maintain the property portfolio of MBDA UK meeting the ever changing business needs and provide the provision/management of services across the sites which include catering, maintenance, document management and construction. As a graduate on this programme you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of areas such as property portfolio planning, corporate real estate, landlord & tenant negotiation, financial management, contract management, asset management, project management and services management.

Finance

The Finance team oversee all financial areas which include the consolidation of national MBDA financial accounts and supporting other MBDA teams in the management of the financial aspects of contracts with both customers & suppliers. As a graduate on this programme you will study towards becoming a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) with CIMA and will have the opportunity to contribute to the implementation of double entry bookkeeping and accounting, forecasting cash payments and receipts, financial hedging, budget and business plan preparation and generating cost estimates & analysing risks for bids to potential customers.

Guidance, Control And Navigation Engineer

The Guidance, Control and Navigation team play a pivotal role in the concept and life of all MBDA products. As a graduate on this programme you will work in a variety of areas such as guidance algorithm design, autopilot and control system design & analysis, integrated navigation, data fusion and implementing neural networks & deep learning techniques.

Hardware In The Loop

The Hardware In The Loop (HWIL) team test missile hardware in a dynamic flight environment. They design, develop and use closed loop HWIL simulations and as a graduate on this programme you’d gain experience of doing this, looking at how components operate and interact together.

Industrial Policy, Global Supply Chain & Procurement

The Industrial Policy, Global Supply Chain and Procurement (ISP) team are responsible for a variety of activities which include leading the definition of Industrial Policies, supporting the sourcing decisions by bringing relevant supply chain intelligence & strategic frameworks, managing procurement activities and managing the Supply Base industrial performance. As a graduate on this programme you will undertake placements in Procurement, Supply Chain Management and Business Solutions Improvement & Risk Management.

Integration & System Validation

The integration & System Validation (ISV) area plays a critical role in the development and proving of our existing products as well as those proposed for the future. As a graduate on this programme, you will work in a variety of areas such as conducting firing trials, integration of missiles and weapon systems on delivery platforms and functional proving of system response & performance.

Major Equipment Procurement

The Major Equipment team are responsible for managing suppliers that are designing and delivering complex sub-systems for MBDA products and unique services for the business throughout the entire product lifecycle. As a graduate on this programme you will be the primary interface dealing with suppliers and will be responsible for areas such as managing supplier related aspects of the business winning process, ensuring the supplier delivers to programme & technical requirements within budget, improving process and implementing strategies associated with suppliers in order to deliver maximum business advantage.

Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing team have an extensive knowledge of the manufacturing process for MBDA’s products. As a graduate on this programme you will gain hands on experience in areas such as the definition and development of manufacturing processes, assembly and integration of complex weapons, concept of Delivery of Manufacturing Solutions using PDM and SAP and the process development & proving of Circuit Card Assembly.

Missile Architecture

Missile Architecture offers multi-disciplinary roles which draw on inputs from around the company to produce the optimum level design for a missile. As a graduate on this programme, You will be working in a variety of different areas including undertaking & managing design and performance trade-off studies at missile levels and managing the design & delivery of subsystems within a project.

Project Management

The Project Management team project manage product development, manufacturing, in-service support and future concepts. As a graduate on this programme you will define customer facing programmes and project control structures, develop credible estimates and define project organisation as well as work breakdown structures. Working in a multinational team there will be opportunities to travel to our French and Italian sites.

Seeker Engineering

A seeker is the radar unit located at the front of a missile that detects, acquires and tracks target. As a graduate on this programme you will work in different disciplines in order to contribute to design, development, integration and production of all radar frequency (RF) seekers. These include system modelling, algorithm development, requirements and specifications, hardware and software integration, electronics, RF/electromagnetic simulation, and trials.

Sensors Electro-Optics Engineering

The Electro-Optics(EO) Sensors area provides expertise on infrared (IR), optical and laser-based sensors. As a graduate on this programme you will gain an in-depth knowledge of these sensors and how they interact with other subsystems, working in a variety of different areas. These include the design and build of optical prototypes, research and development of novel EO techniques and modelling & simulation of the environment, target and sensor.

As a graduate on this programme you will work in a variety of areas such as the development of large dynamic system models, performing technical analysis & investigations and using models to support the system development process.

As a graduate on this programme you will work on a variety of development stages within the weapon systems which include both embedded and front end software development on a range of platforms, utilising C, C++ and Java. There will also be opportunities to travel and to work abroad for 6 months – a year.

Supportability Engineer

The Customer Support and Services team is responsible for the support of MBDA products across the world, ensuring that the armed forces have the capability they need, where and when they need it. As a graduate on this programme, you will work in a variety which include ensuring that products are designed to be readily supported and once they are delivered, providing maintenance, refurbishment and technical support.

Weapon Systems Simulation & Experimentation

The Weapon Systems Simulation and Experimentation area develops and implements simulation software and man-in-the-loop experiments to support some of the world’s most advanced future missile systems. As a graduate on this programme you will be designing and developing software applications used to support battlefield simulations working on projects related to air, sea and land defence.

Security

The Security team risk manage Physical, Cyber and Security Services threats at MBDA.  We also have responsibility for UK wide security requirements stipulated through legislation, Ministry of Defence and International Governmental agreements.
