Role Summary
A Seeker Technical Lead will contribute across a number of domains on multiple Seeker development projects. Day to day activities will include supporting Seeker teams with key technical challenges as well as acting as a reviewer for new Seeker developments. A key part of the role will be supporting problem solving and coming up with innovative solutions to new challenges we face in Seeker development, in particular to calibration methods of AESA Seekers and defining of key V&V strategy for Seeker programmes using AESAs.
Being Bolton based an important part of the role will be applying Seeker expertise to support manufacturing challenges, or supporting the planning of developing new Seeker manufacturing methods, again specifically for the manufacturing and characterisation of AESA Seekers. The role will be required to support other Seeker design engineers which are Bolton based, and this could be on a range of development domains, ranging from performance modelling, algorithmic design and RF systems design.
The expectation is this role is deployed to support a number of Seeker projects, likely ones with resource based in Bolton, and also become a "Technical advisor point of contact" for the Seeker Production Design support team". The role would also be expected to work with the Seeker technical expert community to help plan and define future potential packages of internal research and Development and to contribute to very early Seeker concepts, in particular any IRAD conducted to improve design for manufacturing or potential Seeker calibration methods, which could reduce time and cost of manufacturing Seekers.
Key Responsibilities/accountabilities anticipated
- Directly work on development Seeker programs, using technical experience to directly solve or support some of the key technical challenges on these programs.
- Act as an independent reviewer on Seeker development outputs, such as design reviews or major design/performance statement documentation.
- Act as technical advisor to Bolton based Seeker design team and production design support team, able to support across a number of engineering domains
- Use Seeker expertise to support escalated Seeker production design challenges via solving of problems, or by assessing Seeker performance metrics with updated test outputs to accept or reject changes in test outputs.
- Work with Seeker technical expert community to ensure best practice of design to manufacture is considered across full Seeker development life cycle
- Suggest and work directly on Seeker IRAD projects
What are we looking for?
- Knowledge/experience in the systems development of a Seeker product, or equivalent Complex RF System
- Knowledge/experience of working with AESA Radar systems
- Experience of managing and working as part of multi-disciplinary teams to delivery complex system products.
- Specific experience in the calibration of a sensor systems and an understanding of how this impacts wider missile guidance stability
