The Opportunity:
The Hardware In The Loop (HWIL) team provides an innovative capability to conduct dynamic missile firing simulations, using real hardware, in support of; product development, missile performance validation and de-risking firing trials.
You will have the opportunity to work within a state of the art national facility utilising target generation and flight motion equipment to exercise missile functionalities in close to real world scenarios. The HWIL test capabilities allow for injection of model data into missile sub-systems in real-time to simulate in-flight performance, target detection, acquisition and homing.
Due to the unique range of work in HWIL, your job role may vary week on week. Your overall aim will be to develop software ‘plug-ins' to support and improve the real-time complex simulations which support missile testing and product development.
What you will be doing:
- Design and build real-time simulations for missile testing,
- Abstract detail to understand the simulation and missile behaviour,
- Work with the Linux operating system and programming languages like C/C++,
- Interact with relevant stakeholders across MBDA,
- Conduct experiments with real missile hardware and software,
- Analyse the missile performance and report on findings.
What we're looking for from you:
We have found that the best HWIL engineers have wide engineering experience, with knowledge in some (not necessarily all) of the skill areas listed below:
- Software design for real-time applications,
- Familiarity with Linux operating system,
- Familiarity in C / C++ programming languages,
- System integration & interface debugging,
- System performance analysis.
