A lead engineering role to work on the next generation of missile defence systems within the Electrical Architecture function in MBDA UK. This role is to be the technical specialist for multiple power systems equipment.
Salary: Circa £65k depending on experience
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3 days per week on-site due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

The opportunity:
You will be an experienced engineer with good technical knowledge in electrical/electronic power systems performing the following role:
- Providing technical advice and providing critical subject matter expertise on power systems to ensure timely resolution of emergent issues
- Acting as a Power Systems technical specialist with overall responsibility for defining power systems requirements, associated proving / certification strategies
- Defining the missile power distribution system from source (AC or DC) to load, considering power budgets, duty cycling of loads, power conversion topologies and associated losses, thermal output, EMC considerations, size and mass, etc.
- Ensure technical compliance of the power systems through good working relationships with multiple internal & external power systems design authorities/stakeholders
- Performing analysis/modelling to inform architectural decisions and implementation
- Manage relationships with key design authorities/suppliers of interfacing hardware equipment to the power system
- Supporting test and fault-finding activities during compatibility testing, risk reduction, system proving/qualification and integration
- Review qualification verification evidence for power systems equipment and missile system
- Track and resolve non-compliances
- Support production of guidelines for best practice for power systems (including architecture, load analysis, power modelling, testing, etc.)
UK/international travel may be required to suppliers, customers, and other MBDA sites in UK & Europe.

What we're looking for from you:
Desired - a degree or equivalent qualification/experience in electrical/electronic engineering or a related subject, however, experience and technical knowledge on power systems is key for this role.
A knowledge of the following would be desirable but not essential: requirements/testing to Mil-Std-704, incorporating permanent magnet generators into a power architecture.
