Salary: £42,000 - £45,000 dependent on experience + bonus + benefits
Dynamic (hybrid) working pattern: This is a predominantly a laboratory based role but, where possible, we will seek to accommodate a blended approach to on-site and remote working.

The opportunity:
You'll be working within a state-of-the-art Materials Laboratory and responsible for providing practical support or complex solutions around laboratory analysis to support production for both National and International projects. This role gives you the opportunity to making a tangible impact to real life challenges.
As a technical and practical role it will put you at the forefront of Materials Technology, and will offer a breadth of development in surrounding fields. There may also be opportunities for National and International travel supporting both customers and suppliers.
What we are looking for from you:
- Previous practical experience in one or more of the following areas is preferable:
- Sample preparation and analysis of metallic and non-metallic materials.
- Microscopy and materials failure analysis.
- Specialist analytical techniques, e.g. SEM/EDX, FTIR & XRF.
- Mechanical Testing of Materials.
- Surface Treatment and Coatings of Materials
- REACh and other environmental or Health and Safety legislation
- Inspection of un-populated Printed Circuit Boards
- Equivalent of HND/Degree in Materials Science or Chemistry, or similar would be ideal but not essential with relevant materials industrial/laboratory experience.
- Ability to contribute to the daily activities of a pro-active team of Materials Engineers supporting challenging manufacturing deadlines
- Good understanding of Materials and their Processes including how materials react to various environments and how to assess their performance.
- Understanding of manufacturing techniques and methods.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings and their interpretation.
- Ability to determine requirements from specifications and national test standards.
- Experience of working in a laboratory environment
